Obituary of Lorraine Fleming
Please share a memory of Lorraine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lorraine Fleming passed away on January, 24th, 2018 at the age of 52.
Lorraine was born on May 8th, 1965 in Swift Current, Saskatchewan to George and the late Norma (Jean) Fleming (England).
Her first years saw her growing up as a “Rig brat” following her dad as a “Rig rat” around Saskatchewan until 1966 when they moved in with Uncle Bill on the England family farm.
Lorraine grew up in Arborfield, SK where she took her education from Kindergarten to Grade 12. She loved to read and enjoyed learning something new each day. This was shown by her involvement in the Jordan River 4-H Home-craft and the 4-H Beef Club for many years. Lorraine graduated from Arborfield High School in 1983 and then furthered her education at the Prince Albert Business College receiving an Office Administration diploma (1984) and University of Regina with an Office Administration diploma (October 2017).
Lorraine has two sons, Logan (Megan Hrychuk) and Jordan (Laura Miller), and two grand-puppies (Kota and Kayne) that she loved with all her heart...spoiling them like grandchildren. Lorraine was a firm believer that if your child was involved in activities, so are you. She was involved with local school board, Bjorkdale’s Skating Rink, Skating Club, Minor Hockey and Minor Ball boards. She also organized Games and tournaments for Junior and Senior Novice Hockey.
She lived in the Village of Bjorkdale and traveled to her family farm every weekend in Arborfield to spend time with family. This was the time that she cherished!! On those weekends she kept helping mom and ended up taking over after mom passed. She was everyone’s “go to” person, wearing many hats (taxi driver, cake decorator, seamstress, listener, and advice giver, cook, gardener/canner, etc.)
Lorraine was employed with the Village of Bjorkdale and Wapiti Public Library (Bjorkdale Branch). She also guarded for Tisdale R.C.M.P. and in September 2017, she retired from teaching playschool after 23 years. Lorraine was also involved in many fundraising activities for the village (the latest one for the fire truck). She was a woman of many jobs and skills; even doing the books for family members, keeping finances in order in many households. In her spare time she liked to read, paint, and crochet.
Lorraine was very loved and cherished by many. She was seen as the strength that always brought the entire family together; Lorraine will be truly missed.
She is survived by her boys Logan (Megan) and Jordan (Laura), her dad George, sisters Connie (Bernard) Turcotte and Corrine (David) Johansen. Her nieces and nephews: Trent, Cheri, Jessica, Kayla, and Ryan. Also her great nephews and nieces: Arley. Reece, Nevaeh, Kaylee. Lorraine is predeceased by her brother Billy (1981) and her mom, Jean (2011).
You will always be on our minds and Forever in Our Hearts.
