Traditional Funeral

A full service, often held at a church, funeral home or hall

Prior to the service there may be prayers or a visitation, often the evening before or the morning of the service.
The casket is present at the service. It may be open or closed, depending on the wishes of the family and executor
Can be religious or nondenominational

Following the service, there is often a procession to the cemetery where burial will take place

Costs May Include:

  • Transfer of the deceased to the funeral home
  • Embalming
  • Dressing, cosmetology and other care of the deceased
  • Administrative staff assistance
  • General use of the facilities for the service and arrangements
  • Casket and other merchandise
  • Grave liner (vault or wooden outer box)
  • Use of visitation rooms
  • Church, chapel, cemetery costs and equipment
  • Use of funeral vehicles
  • Register book, memorial cards & acknowledgement cards

Memorial Service or Celebration of Life

A memorial service is conducted in memory of the person, without the presence of the body in a traditional casket

An urn may or may not be present at the service
Can be religious or nondenominational
May be followed with a procession to the cemetery for burial

Costs may include:

  • Service items
  • Transfer of the deceased to the funeral home
  • Cremation costs if applicable
  • Administrative staff assistance
  • General use of the facilities for the service and arrangements
  • Cemetery costs and equipment
  • Register book, memorial cards & acknowledgement cards
  • Vehicles as necessary

Cremation Following Traditional Service

A family may choose cremation following a traditional viewing or funeral service

  • A rental casket or a cremation casket can be used
  • Typically after cremation the remains are placed in an urn
  • The family may wish to bury the urn, place it in a columbarium, scatter ashes, divide the ashes among family members in small keepsake urns or simply take the urn home

Graveside Service

This is a burial service held at the cemetery without prior visitation
Can be a traditional casket or urn

Costs May Inclue:

  • Casket or urn
  • Administrative staff assistance
  • Cemetery costs and equipment
  • Grave liner or vault
  • Vehicles as necessary

Direct Cremation or Disposition

Immediate cremation or burial of the body with minimal ceremony or no rites

Cost may be made up of:

  • Necessary service items
  • Cremation fees if applicable
  • Administrative staff assistance
  • Cemetery costs and equipment
  • Vehicles as needed
