Obituary of Coral Marguerite Whenham

WHENHAM, Coral Marguerite – January 16, 1927 – December 31, 2017

It is with great sadness that the family of Marguerite Whenham announces her passing.  She passed away peacefully with family by her side at the Nipawin Hospital on Dec. 31, 2017.

Marguerite was born on the home farm on January 16, 1927, to David and Cora Dorward.  She took all her schooling in Ridgedale, later moving to Duncan, BC with her family in 1944.  In 1945, Howard Whenham of Ridgedale, SK went to Duncan, BC to be with Marguerite and on March 17, 1945, they got married and then together they moved back to Saskatchewan where they farmed south of Ridgedale for the next 27 years.  Howard and Marguerite were blessed with 2 children, Ralph and Brenda.  In 1972, they moved to Victoria, BC where they lived together until Howard’s passing in 1997.  In 2003, Marguerite made her way back to Saskatchewan, living in Nipawin until 2013 where she then moved to the North Haven Care Centre in Smeaton, SK where she resided until her passing.

Marguerite is survived by her children Ralph (Beth) Whenham and Brenda (Wayne) Baumgartner, 5 grandchildren; Trent and Murray Whenham, Garrett (Shiori) and Landon (Melissa) Baumgartner and Danica (Victor) Forsyth, 5 great-grandchildren; Konnery and Kalen Whenham, Lincoln, Addison and Payton Forsyth, one brother-in-law, Rex Mitchell and a large extended family.

Marguerite was predeceased by Howard, her loving husband of 52 years, brothers; Harry, James (in infancy), Jack (Olive) and Mac (Nan) Dorward, sisters; Vera (Lloyd) Lundquist, Lil Mitchell, Eva (Dick) Broderick and Merle (Dave) Bulmer; sisters-in-law Helen (Wes) Lillies and Dorothy (Len) Dane, brothers-in-law; Harvey (Lois) and Doug (Joan) Whenham.

At the request of Mom, there will be no funeral.  There will be a family interment in Victoria, BC at a later date.

We would like to thank the caregivers at North Haven for the excellent care they gave our Mom over the past 5 years, to the Doctors and Nurses at the Nipawin Hospital for their comfort care over her last two weeks and the North East EMS for their special care.
