From my earliest memories my Aunt Marion has always been there. Sharing stories of me from the time I was a preschooler and throughout life as new memories have been made. The way she would retell things always made me feel special and loved.
Going to visit my aunt and uncle at the farm was the very most exciting thing imaginable for me as young boy. Gathering eggs, pumping water from the well, using an outside toilet and so much to explore.
As I grew older and headed on my own I lived with her and her family for a period of time. She cared for me and watched over me with nurturing love every day.
Then in Calgary with a new family, my wife, children and I visited regularly. Lenni soon found out how special Marion was and they developed a cherished relationship. I always felt happy watching the two of them talk with their total attention focused on one other. You always felt important spending time with Marion and couldn’t help but love her.
Less than six Months ago Marion was coming into PA with her good friend Elaine for an appointment. Arrangements were made for us to have lunch together at my mother’s LTC home. It had been a long time since these two lifelong friends had seen each other and my heart was filled with joy during this reunion.
Just a month ago Lenni, Keith, Marion and myself visited over lunch. It was a nice visit as always and we left looking forward to the next time not letting it enter my mind that there may not be a next time.
They say one of the hardest things in life is saying goodbye to those you love. Although my heart is broken, I am so grateful to have had Marion play such a big part of my life.
