Obituary of Kathleen Settee

Kathleen (Granny) was born in December, 1953 in The Pas, Manitoba to parents, Marie Louise Settee & Pierre Settee. She grew up in Pine Bluff Indian Reserve and later moved to Cumberland House, SK after the school burned down. She spent most of her life in Cumberland House. Granny was an entrepreneur, she was very handy in all areas, learning & applying new skills. Over the years, she completed many courses which included carpentry and heavy equipment operator to name a few. Kathleen used these skills & became very creative and persistent, whether it was completing tasks, finishing her projects or helping her family & friends who she held very close to her heart. She loved her daily routine, waking early in the morning with a fresh pot of coffee, making her phone calls to “achimo” with friends, writing down her daily tasks, picking her teams for pro-line pools, arguing with her son-in-law, cheering on all the Canadian Hockey Teams, she was always remembered for being one of the loudest supporters for the Cumberland Cree, but mostly, she enjoyed the company of others.

Kathleen was blessed with three children: Eugene Settee, Pierrette Settee & Marie Bouvier, 15 grandchildren, & 3 great-grandchildren. She leaves behind her undying faith in the Lord’s prayer. She believed in prayer to give her family & friends health, happiness & strength in all aspects of life; always seeing the good in everybody that she knew and loved.

Granny leaves her cherished memories to her daughters: Pierrette and Marie (Emile); her son, Eugene; all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sisters; Caroline (James) and Yvonne; her brothers; Emile, Thomas (Esther), Roderick, Russell; her nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family; and her many friends: Joe Dorion, Gwenda Young, Melissa Foss, Randy Cook & wife, Helen Deschambeault, Randy Dorion, Dawn Deschambeault, Julia Cook, Olga Crane, Rosina Custer, Lester Laliberty, Joe Cook, Julie Lambert Lisa Goulet Cook, Veronica Favel, Rainbow babies/Terry, Val Deschambeault and family, Bern McKay, and Nachapanuk Crew—Phillip Head.
