Obituary of Josephine Settee

Josephine Edna Settee (nee Crane) passed away on March 30, 2024 surrounded by friends and family. She was 57 years old.

Josephine was born in Nipawin, Saskatchewan to Douglas and Arlene Crane in July, 1966. She received her education at Charlebois School and later moved to Saskatoon to become a live-in nanny for the McKay family for a couple of years until she moved back home and met Alex Settee. Josephine and Alex were married on August 5, 1989 and went on to have 6 beautiful children: Julius (Ali) Crane; Cheryl (Harold) Packo; Lynnia Settee; Kelita Settee and Justine Settee.

Josephine enjoyed working as a camp cook. Each spring and summer she looked forward to putting in her applications to various organizations that required camp cooks. She met a lot of people throughout her camp cook career and would often talk about the new friends that she had made throughout the years. It wasn't until last spring that she could no longer go out to camp as she had developed an allergy to smoke from the firewood. Jose loved helping in the kitchen, she was often volunteering for community events. She was always willing to help. Josephine was never one to sit still, after developing her allergies she was determined to find work and that she did. She applied as a van driver for the Nisto Awasisak Memorial School and was excited when she got hired for the job. She enjoyed picking up the students and dropping them off, she developed special bonds and cared deeply for the children and work family she worked with at NAMS. She would always make herself available, no matter how small or great a task was. She did it to the best of her ability. Josephine was known for her early morning face times with her family and friends, she loved to keep in touch and check in on everyone.

Josephine was predeceased by her parents, Douglas and Arlene Crane; her in-laws: JB and Alice Settee; sisters-in-law: Rose Morin and Suzette Jobb; brothers-in-law: George Greenleaf, Martin Jobb, Ralph Sayies Sr. and Paul Pelly; aunts: Amelia Settee, Verna (Rose)Nabess, Denise Crane, Flora Crane and Stella McKay; uncles: Malcolm Crane, Peter Crane and Philip Crane; nephews: Ralph Sayies Jr, Phillip Crane Jr and Douglas Crane; along with her Angel grand babies.
