Obituary of Floyd Wesley Temple

Floyd was born on November 6, 1926, to Peter and Francis Temple.   He passed away peacefully in the presence of family members on June 7, 2017, at the Carrot River Health Centre where he had resided for over 10 years.  He lost his wife Alvena in death on February 10, 2016.

When he was a young man, Floyd met Alvena Bleich, they fell in love and were married on July 12, 1948.  Together they raised their children Lois (Lorne) Bond, Larry (Cheryl) Temple, Barb (Larry) Ernst, and Gloria (Kelvin) Mykytyzyn. They were so pleased to see each of them come to know and love their God Jehovah.  In time, he and Alvena were blessed with ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

As a couple, they loved to travel.  They visited many places including El Salvador, the South Pacific, Hawaii, Arizona, California, Ecuador, Haiti and the highlight of their lives, the Bible Lands tour.  Floyd loved fishing and together they enjoyed camping.  We remember the Dutchman trailer when he would laugh and say “If it ain’t Dutch, it ain’t much.”  Floyd was very hospitable at home; he would say ‘come on in and I’ll have Alvena throw another cup of water in the soup’.

Floyd was a farmer all his life.  In fact, the year 2019 will mark 100 years for the farm which has been in the family for four generations. Something to be very proud of!  Floyd will also be remembered as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses to all who knew him. For a time he served as a substitute circuit overseer, visiting various congregations to spiritually encourage them.  He was determined to do all he could in the furthering of Jehovah’s interests.  It was so sad in later life when he could no longer hold a book or a magazine, but appreciated when family and friends could visit and read to him. Many an evening was spent playing Scrabble with Alvena in the nursing home. He has left us a legacy of a deep spiritual man who loved Jehovah with everything he had.  He worked tirelessly along with the organization he believed God is using to fulfill his purpose.  How we yearn to welcome back our beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather just as the earthly resurrection is promised in the Bible.
