Obituary of Carol Jones

     Carol was born in Nipawin, Saskatchewan to Adolph (Addie) and Letha Carr. She was the sixth child with two older brothers, Bob and Jack; two older sisters, Peggy and Ann; and two younger brothers, Lewis and Bill. They resided in White Fox until 1947 when they took the train to Prince George, BC to live.

     Carol graduated from high school and completed a secretarial course, which served her well in several of her jobs. After working in Prince George for a short time she set sail to accept a job in Sydney, Australia. She and cabin mate Liz became lifelong friends. She worked for a year in Australia and on her return to Canada she settled in Vancouver and started working at International Harvester. Here she met a handsome divorced salesman who became her husband in 1970. Carol stepped into the role of step-mother to Janice and Doug. Carol and Ed first lived in Port Coquitlam, then in White Rock, and finally retired in Qualicum Beach in 1995.

    Carol and Ed enjoyed living in Qualicum Beach. They loved the weather – much less rain than Vancouver! After the move, she continued to do merchandising for London Drugs throughout Vancouver Island. They loved the neighbourhood. People were open, friendly, and looked out for each other, right up until Carol moved to Saskatchewan.

     Carol was an active member at St. Steven’s United Church and belonged to the lady’s group. She canvased for the Cancer Society and worked at most Federal and Provincial elections but her passion was quilting. She took many courses and became a perfectionist. Wherever Carol lived she was an active member of the local Quilt Guild. She belonged to the “Sea Side Quilters” in White Rock and “Loose Threads” in Qualicum.

     Ed passed away October 2016 – 46 years together. The stress of looking after Ed took its toll on Carol but she remained in her home with the help of her good friends and neighbours Sharon and Jackie.

     After her 80^th birthday celebration February 2020, niece Naideen Cunningham brought her home to White Fox. Covid issues and Carol’s health, the family felt it was not safe for Carol to return to Qualicum and live alone. She stayed with Naideen and Terry with the help of her niece Linda Hayes in Prince Albert and her brother Jack in Saskatoon enabling us to keep Carol in family homes. On November 5, 2020 she became the second resident in “Sister’s in Care” with RaeLynn Teale and her family and staff.

      Carol enjoyed her life there until admission to the Nipawin Union Hospital on August 16, 2023. She remained in the hospital until her unexpected passing.

     Carol was predeceased by her husband Edwin Jones; her parents Addie and Letha Carr; infant sister Joyce; sisters Peggy Lidster and Ann Wiita; brothers Bob Carr and Jack Carr; nephew David Carr; and brothers-in-law George Lidster and Leo Wiita.

     Carol is survived by brothers Lewis Carr (Jannette) and Bill Carr; sisters- in law Eva Carr and Louse Carr; step-children Janice Piet and Doug Jones (Tamara); nieces Linda Hayes (Bob), Dianna Carr, Naideen Cunningham (Terry), and Juliette Carr; nephews Bob Lidster (Donna), Allan Carr (Ann), Michael Carr, Craig Carr (Jacinta); many grandchildren and many great and great-great nephews and nieces.

Carol was loved by all and will be missed.­
