Obituary of Annie Jansen

Annie Buhler was born to William & Tina Buhler in July 1931 in Hague, Saskatchewan. Annie was the third eldest of 6 children.

Annie always loved going to school. She attended Murphy Creek School until she was 9 yrs old, then she started attending Elkhorn School. When she was 15 yrs old, she started working out for a few different families.

In May, 1950,  mom met her husband to be, Henry Jansen, and on October 22, 1950, they were married. They went to Flin Flon for their honeymoon and ended up staying there til July,1961. While in Flin Flon, they had 4 children; 3 girls and 1 boy.

A big event in mom’s life was in the spring of 1958, when Annie and Henry committed their lives to the Lord and were baptized.

In July 1961, the family moved back to Saskatchewan to live on the farm. Mom & Dad were long time members of the Bethany Mennonite Church and the Foster Parents Association. Annie was also a member of the Church Mission Circle.

Mom always loved children, especially babies, so in 1964, her and dad started fostering children. Over a span of 34 years, they fostered over 60 children, from newborns to teens, as well as those with special needs. They adopted two of these children, Susan and Donna, and Rody became a permanent ward. Mom said it wasn’t easy, but it was rewarding!

Annie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Henry; her daughter, Susan; her son-in-law, Don; her granddaughter, Sheri; her parents, William & Tina Buhler; her brothers, Isaac and Elmer; her sister, Tina; her parents-in-law, Frank & Margaret Jansen; her brothers-in-law, Dave, Frank, and Jake; and her sister-in-law, Mary.

Annie is survived by her children, Linda, Herb (Lois), Kathy (Dave), Colleen (Jerry), Donna, and Rody; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
