Obituary of Putt Greenleaf
John B. Greenleaf, ‘Putt’, was born in January 1962 to Paul Settee and Marie Alvena Greenleaf (Deschambeault). He was raised in Pine Bluff the first 3 years of his young life, along with his mom and his sister Beverly. They moved to Cumberland House. He moved once again in 1975 to The Pas, Manitoba where he received his education. He came back to Cumberland House in the early 90’s and stayed there until his passing on March 27, 2023.
Putt worked as a laborer for CN Rail; brush cutting, tree planting and fire fighting for the CHCN, until his health deteriorated. He met his partner, Emily Laliberty in Cumberland and they were together until her passing in January 2021 when she lost her battle to cancer. They were raising their little ray of ‘sunshine’ Brooklynn and Putt had to let her go because of his health issues.
Putt was a very humble, kind-hearted, loving man who never had a bad thing to say to anyone, and if he did, you were truly deserving. He enjoyed watching sports and he loved music. He also enjoyed playing cards with his friends.
He was predeceased by his partner, Emily Laliberty; his parents, Paul Settee & Marie Deschambeault (Greenleaf); his maternal grandparents, William & Rosali Greenleaf; his paternal grandparents, Thomas & Adelaide Settee; his aunties & uncles: Madeline Goulet (Joe Goulet), Horace Greenleaf (Marie Greenleaf), Hazel Greenleaf, Alexander Settee, Roderick Settee (Mariam), John B. Putt is survived by his siblings: Beverly Goulet (Sheldon, Adrian, Sunni, Megan), Hazel Harris (Phillip, Stephanie, Seagun), Lorette (Kevin) Nabess (Leo, Russ, Natasha, Damian), Cordell (Jodi) Deschambeault (Renee, Raelene, Francis, Cordell Jr., Jessie), Lionel Deschambeault (Lakota); his brother-in-law, Pierre (Sonny) Goulet; his nieces and nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren; his little ray of sunshine, Brooklynn Laliberty; and all who knew and loved our brother.
