Irene Dorothy Penner (nee Anweiler) was born April 4, 1920, in the Dundurn, SK area. She passed away on November 18, 2016, at Pineview Lodge in Nipawin, SK.
Irene married William (Bill) Penner on March 29, 1974. Together they adopted two daughters, Donna and Tammy.
Bill and Irene took care of Karen Howard and Todd Antonenko for a number of years and treated them as if they were their own children.
Irene was a busy homemaker. She babysat for friends and took care of her children. She loved cooking, baking, gardening, tending to her flowers, crocheting, knitting, and embroidery. She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, playing cards and going to yard sales on Saturdays.
Irene belonged to the Salvation Army, took part in the Woman’s Auxiliary and helped in the thrift store.
After Bill passed away, Irene sold her house and moved to Cedar Manor and lived there until October of 2011 when she moved into Pineview Lodge because of her health.
Irene is survived by Todd Antonenko (wife, Georgina Bahr, grandchildren Rebeka and Donovan Bahr-Antonenko), Tammy Penner (daughter Wynona Penner, grandchildren Sykura, Soara and Kyaria Penner), Donna Penner (daughters Rachel Stewart, Cote and Victor Stewart, grandchildren Cae-lyn Penner, Colin Stewart and Tara Penner, grandchildren: Kathleen, Simon and Linda Bird. Sons: Mattew Cote, (wife Deanna Lavallee, grandchildren: Dale Lavallee, Ryder and Kia Cote, Jammes Cote, Damian Penner, Nicholas Cote (wife Alicia Ballantyne and grandchild Asher Cote, nephew Ben and Erma Isaacson and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
