Obituary of Mandy McGillivary

Mandy (Grassy) was born in January, 1989 in Nipawin, SK to her late parents Marcel and Barbara McGillivary. She was the baby sister of seven siblings plus her adopted brother Austin, foster brother Morris and special sister Deborah. Mandy was blessed to have five wonderful children. She had planned to have seven children just like mom. She didn’t get to have her own grandchildren but she loved all her grandnieces and grandnephews as if they were her own grandchildren and spoiled each of them immensely. Mandy met Daniel in 2015 and were blessed with two beautiful children Preston and Danielle. Daniel took Mandy’s three children Dawson, Grace and Emma as his own and they truly love him a lot. She did everything for her children and it truly showed. She would have a theme party for all her children’s birthdays and would feed an army with her cooking and baking. Her world revolved around her children and gave them unconditional love. Mandy received her education at the old Johnny Stewart Memorial School from Kindergarten – Grade 5 and then Grade 6-12 at the Nisto Awasisak Memorial School. She graduated from Grade 12 in June 2007. Mandy went to further her post-secondary education later in life and went to the Prince Albert SaskPolytechnic for Professional Cooking in which she completed. She later on took another course in Culinary Arts and completed her Food & Beverage Course Level I and was recently doing on-line classes for Level II. Mandy was a long-distance cross-country runner as she attended a lot of Invitations during high school meets. She always participated in JB Days and Samuel Hearne activities and races as she wasn’t shy to do anything. She enjoyed paddling and going on Canoe Trips during Summer Youth Camps. She was full of laughter and had her special kind of laugh and was a prankster as well. She learned those pranks from her late cousin/brother Dale Stewart. She led a happy and fun-filled childhood with family and friends. She was very close to all her first cousins from Cumberland House, Red Earth and Prince Albert. She loved attending gatherings to celebrate baptismals, confirmations, weddings and high school graduations. She attended funerals of family and friends just to go help out and be supportive as that was what our late mother instilled in her, to always lend a helping hand. She truly cared for people and it showed by her true generosity and willingness to do almost anything, rain or shine, blizzard or during a real hot day. Mandy loved to travel a lot in her car with family and friends or in her van with all her children. She was one of the gypsies (as we called ourselves) who would travel far and have fun along the way. When she was fifteen years old, she was brave enough to travel alone on a jet plane to Ottawa to attend a World Youth Conference for a week. She loved duck and big game hunting with family. She received her Firearm Acquisition Certificate (FAC) in Nipawin. Mandy loved to sing all kinds of genres of songs and would sing atop of her lungs especially during her travels or cleaning up her house. It was always very calming to hear her sing along to her favorite songs, in her soft sweet voice. She was a very good dancer and loved attending social dances and was never shy to strut her moves. She participated in Air Bands and singing contests during her teenage years. Mandy’s special trait was talking a mile a minute and one would have to listen very carefully when talking to you. Mandy made many friends, young and old because she had an outgoing personality and she formed a lot of good friendships along the way in her moves and travels. She travelled to go work at a lot of places such as Lynn Lake, MB. She worked at the Nisto Awasisak Memorial School as a Teacher Assistant for many years. She also worked for a Bee Farm in Nipawin for two seasons. Mandy did all kinds of jobs whether they were short or long term. She could do all kinds of jobs and would try anything. She even fixed her own vehicles alongside Daniel and her nephew Blair Burns. Mandy was a stay-at-home parent as she had two toddlers at home and spent a lot of time with them. They’re favorite outing was taking them to playgrounds and sliding. She loved cooking delicious meals for them. She did a lot of baking and shared with her Prince Albert families. She loved to watch Netflix Series and all genres of movies. She loved visiting friends and family and would take time to relax and enjoy life. Mandy is now reunited with her parents and brother Wab and everyone else that went before her to the Heaven skies above. Rest in Peace Mom, My Love, Baby Sister (Beb), Cousin (Cuzzie), Auntie, Granny, Friend, Sister-In-Law and Relative. Heaven has gained another Angel. Private Family Service
