Obituary of Richard Orville Carriere

Richie was born in 1976 to Caroline and James (Jim) Carriere. Richie went to school at Charlebois Community School from Kindergarten to Grade 10. He took numerous courses such as: log home building, trades and skills courses to prepare him for work. Richie went to work with Peter Kiewit Construction in numerous locations in Saskatchewan and Alberta and with many sub-contractors. He was currently working with Edgewood Forest Products Inc. at the logging road. Richie was a great outdoorsman who truly loved hunting, trapping, ice fishing, commercial fishing, guiding and camping. He loved animal calling as it was part of guiding, he particularly called moose, duck and other wild animals. His hobbies included hockey, ski-dooing, canoeing, long distance and cross country running, playing guitar and singing. He was a carpenter doing minor and major renovations, small motor mechanics, log home building, working at youth camps. His father left the outfitting camp to him to continue the legacy that was established in 1967 by his father James Carriere. He worked with family namely with his brother Barry to operate the outfitting business throughout these years. Their clientele were mostly Americans and they provided hunting and guiding services. Most of those clients have become very close friends and part of the family to this day. Richie is survived by his common-law partner: Maria Julie Sewap; his sons: Ashton Gerard, Kalen Dussion and Kingsley Thomas; his grandchildren: Ashton James (AJ) and Aria. He also had a special bond with his two step-children: Morley and Marisha Hoksbergen; and step-grandchildren: Jason, Jaxon and Maverick. They lovingly called him grandpa. Richie is also survived by his three brothers: Barry (Donna) Carriere, Dwayne (Francine) Carriere and James E. Carriere, Angus (Margaret) McKenzie; sister-in-law: Amanda Carriere; special sisters: Jennifer (Byron) McGillivary, Marilyn Carriere, Darlene (Jim) Carriere, Rosina (Robert) Custer, Sherry Nabess, Sheila (Hughie) Deschambeault, Wilfreda (Leonard) Dussion, Georgette (Derwin) Chaboyer; special brothers: Chief Rene Chaboyer, Rustin Deschambeault, Lionel Buck, Gerry Nabess, Paul Cook, Byron McGillivary, Renny McKay, Grant Laliberty, Chris (Joy) Jobb, Clarence (Sarah) Natamogan, Johnny (Stephanie) Stewart, Walter (Hazel) Sewap, Clarence (Tiffany) Chaboyer, Curtis Butterwick, Dale Morin, Ken MacColl, Jody Ehman, Rudy Goulet, James Fiddler, Julius Crane, and Gordon Flett; his uncles: Marcel Stewart and James (Caroline) Stewart; his aunties: Flora Stewart, Elise Sayese, Marie Louise McKenzie, and Josephine Carriere; in-laws: Blanche and Angus Sewap Sr. Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
