Obituary of Marie Alma Thomas
Marie was born, October 30, 1946 in Sturgeon Landing, SK to the late Louisa Cook & Baptiste Cook. As far back as she can remember, she grew up in the care of her Grandfather Ross Head and Grandmother Christy Head.
October 26, 1962 Marie married Oliver Thomas. Marie was a family person who was happiest when her family was gathered together at her house. She loved spending time playing scrabble, bible studies, going to wakes or gospel jamborees and traveling with her best friend Sheila.
Marie loved hosting special occasion dinners (Christmas, Easter, Birthdays). She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and Chapans. Marie loved her 2 daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, god-children, in-laws, cousins, friends and adopted children.
Marie showed compassion for other people’s children. Marie couldn’t stand to see children suffering. Marie extended her home to many of her grand children and great grandchildren. Marie also showed great compassion to the sick, the aged, be-grieved and all children.
Marie was a strong believer in God. She often reminded her relatives to pray and go to church. When she was of good health, she volunteered her services to T.V. Board, NAC Board, and fundraising for gospel jamborees.
Marie will be sadly missed by all that knew her, especially her husband Oliver Thomas, children Pamela Thomas, Philomene Thomas. Also, too numerous to mention, all of her grand children and great grandchildren will also miss her.
Marie passed away in her sleep on October 23rd, 2019 at Pineview Lodge (Nipawin) at the age of 72 years old.
