Obituary of Annie Molitwenik

We are here to celebrate the life of our cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt, Annie (nee Krasko) Molitwenik. Annie’s parents, Wasyl (Charles) William and Frazina (Frances) Krasko had thirteen children. Annie was born on the farm near Vita, MB. The family moved to the Samburg, SK area during her early childhood. They later settled on their farm south of Snowden. There were many challenges, especially after her father died. The children learned from a young age how to contribute towards the family’s self-sufficiency. Annie met her husband, Peter Molitwenik at a dance and they married in April, 1944. They settled in the Snowden area and had three children, six grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Annie worked hard on the farm alongside her husband and was proud of their accomplishments, but never as proud as she was of her family. Annie’s home was the hub of family gatherings and many traditional meals were lovingly prepared by her. Her baking skills were legendary! Annie loved to garden and she preserved all the vegetables and fruits she harvested. She valued her flowerbeds equally. She was a competitive card player and also enjoyed quiet moments of cross stitching, crocheting, puzzle setting and reading. She invariably caught more, or bigger, fish than Pete did, much to his dismay! She loved picking blueberries, and was satisfied to pick the “most” and “cleanest” berries. She was proud of her employment at the Smeaton Hospital. Annie and Pete purchased a cabin at Candle Lake where they hosted many family celebrations. She lived there independently after Pete passed away until the time of her passing. Annie loved her family, providing unlimited hugs and cuddles to the young ones; life lessons and a listening ear to the older ones. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered for her determination, strength of character and as our family matriarch. 

The family extends warm and sincere gratitude to the family and friends who provided comfort and care. We also thank the incredibly dedicated and caring staff at Victoria Hospital and Dr. Sukkho. We also thank Pastor Stacey Wood and Heritage Funeral Home for their support at this difficult time. Lastly, we thank the Snowden Community Hall committees, including the community members who made the lunch and George Pickett and crew of helpers for the level of community and dedication you so generously provide.
